Sunset’s Latest Patio Obsession Earns Second Outlet Next to USC’s Campus - Article photograph

...In the expansion the team has decided to go ahead and shorten the whole thing just to BBCM, but keep the same ethos of the place. They’re taking over a brick-walled corner space at the larger USC Village property just north of the main campus, tackling some 4,000 square feet of indoor space with a proposed 1,000 more dedicated to a sunny outdoor patio.

BBCM, short for The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker. As the name would suggest, the seasonal, European-influenced menu features everything from hearty meats to freshly baked goods to a specialty coffee program, with craft cocktails to boot. On offer are items like a pork belly and buttermilk biscuit benedict for brunch, marinated tofu grain bowls for lunch, and grilled daurade filet for dinner.

The indoor/outdoor space features an airy dining room with bright yellow banquettes, marble countertops, and a lovely patio with shady olive trees. They have soft poached eggs with rustic polenta and truffled croutons which did look rather amazing. I had a galette of butternut squash, sage, maple syrup, mustard seeds and it’s very addictive. I love the sweetness of the squash, the crispiness of the sage and the lift of the mustard seeds. And the galette pastry is light, crispy but fluffy in the mouth...

The kitchen is led by the duo of Executive Chefs Ren Nisenbaum (formerly of Jaleo, Washington, D.C. and Morimoto and Jean Georges in NYC) and Craig Hopson (formerly of Le Cirque, Picholine and Beautique in NYC) and features seasonal local farm-fresh ingredients.
